Terms and Conditions of Use

These terms govern the use of Shofar, the management and intelligence platform for churches. By creating an account or using any part of the service, you agree to what is written here.

1. Acceptance of these terms

By creating an account, accessing or using Shofar, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to these Terms and Conditions and to our Privacy Policy. If you are accepting on behalf of a church or organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind it to these terms.

If you do not agree with any part of them, do not use the service.

2. What Shofar is

Shofar is a software-as-a-service platform that brings a church's member records, finances, events and studies together in one place, with artificial intelligence features that answer questions about that data.

The service is delivered over the internet and requires no installation. We may improve, change or discontinue specific features over time; changes that materially reduce what you subscribed to will be announced in advance.

3. Accounts

Using Shofar requires an account created with accurate information and kept up to date. You are responsible for keeping your credentials safe and for everything done through your account.

  • Each account belongs to one person; accounts may not be shared between different users.
  • The church administrator decides who has access to what inside the platform.
  • Tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.
  • You must be at least 18 years old to create an administrative account.

4. Plans, payment and renewal

Shofar offers a free plan and paid plans, with prices and limits described on the pricing page. The prices shown on the site are the ones in force at the time you subscribe.

  • Subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis and renew automatically until cancelled.
  • You can cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid for, with no penalty.
  • Price changes are announced in advance and only apply from the following billing cycle.
  • Non-payment may lead to suspension of paid features, without deleting your data during the retention period described in the Privacy Policy.

5. Acceptable use

When using Shofar, you agree not to:

  • Use the platform for any unlawful purpose or in a way that infringes the rights of others.
  • Upload personal data without a lawful basis for processing it.
  • Attempt to access accounts, data or systems that are not yours.
  • Reverse-engineer, copy or resell the service.
  • Deliberately overload the infrastructure or circumvent usage limits.
  • Use the artificial intelligence features to generate unlawful, defamatory or misleading content.

We may suspend accounts that breach these rules, with prior notice whenever it is safe to give it.

6. Your church's data belongs to your church

Everything you put into Shofar β€” member records, financial entries, events, studies, documents β€” remains the property of your church. We do not sell that data, we do not pass it to third parties for commercial purposes and we do not use it for advertising.

We process it only to operate the service you subscribed to, as described in the Privacy Policy. You can export your data while the account is active and request its deletion when you close the account.

7. Artificial intelligence features

Part of Shofar uses language models to answer questions about your church's data, summarise information and help prepare studies.

  • AI-generated answers are a support tool, not accounting, legal, pastoral or medical advice.
  • Automatically generated content can be wrong; check it before using it in decisions or official communications.
  • We do not use your church's data to train general-purpose artificial intelligence models.
  • Responsibility for the use of generated content lies with whoever publishes or acts on it.

8. Intellectual property

The software, the Shofar brand, the interface, the documentation and all material we produce are our property and are protected by law. These terms grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive right to use the service β€” not a transfer of ownership.

9. Availability and support

We work to keep Shofar continuously available, but the service may be interrupted by scheduled maintenance, supplier failures or events outside our control. Planned maintenance is announced in advance whenever possible.

Support is provided through the contact form on this site. Churches on paid plans receive priority handling.

10. Limitation of liability

Shofar is provided β€œas is”. To the extent permitted by applicable law, our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you actually paid in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.

We are not liable for lost profits, lost opportunity or indirect damages. Nothing in these terms removes rights that applicable law grants you and that cannot be waived.

11. Termination

You may close your account whenever you wish. We may terminate or suspend an account in case of breach of these terms, prolonged non-payment or a legal requirement.

After termination, your data remains available for export for a limited period and is then deleted or anonymised, as described in the Privacy Policy.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms to reflect changes in the service or in the law. The date of the last update is always at the top of this page. Material changes are announced by email or inside the platform before they take effect; continuing to use Shofar afterwards means accepting them.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Brazil. Disputes will be settled in the courts of the user's domicile, where the law allows.

14. How to reach us

Questions about these terms can be sent through the support form on this site, which is our official support channel.
